Working session with the team and partners

Working session with local partners in Parakou

The RACED team brought its local partners together in Parakou for a working day: review of the year's activities, calendar of upcoming interventions and coordination between the Parakou, Natitingou, Kandi and Malanville bases.

These regular meetings are part of our method: every project is designed, monitored and evaluated with technical services, town halls and partner organisations.

School reforestation: pupils, teachers and elders plant together

In a school yard in the commune, pupils, teachers, parents and elders planted seedlings of local species. Each tree was entrusted to a pair of pupils responsible for watering and protecting it through the dry season.

These days extend the work begun under PCGeDEF: beyond the number of seedlings, the aim is to instil in the youngest the reflex of protecting what has been planted.

AGIRE: first environmental education sessions in Malanville's schools

The school component of the AGIRE project began with the first environmental education sessions in schools across the commune of Malanville. On the agenda: organic waste and compost, water, trees and the role of bees.

Over the life of the project the aim is to train 800 pupils and teachers directly and reach 5,000 people in the commune.

Producers gathered for the AGIRE baseline

Baseline survey of Malanville's gardeners and beekeepers

Before any training, the AGIRE team met the commune's gardener and beekeeper groups for an individual baseline: GPS location of plots, current practices, water and input constraints, motivation.

Collected with KoboToolbox, this data is the reference against which change will be measured over the project's 24 months, and the basis for tailoring support to each producer.
